PDO monothreads

PDO Mono threads have taken the cosmetic world by storm, and with good reason. These tiny dis-solvable threads are placed under the skin, triggering the skin’s natural collagen and elastin production capabilities, resulting in tighter, smoother, more volumised skin.

Now that Australia has now jumped on board, we can offer you this cutting-edge technique that boosts collagen production like nothing else.

We have undergone extensive training across multiple techniques using PDO Mono threads, and our clients are already enjoying the results.

The Low Down

There are two types of ‘threads’ in the industry.

Thread lifts consist of a polydioxanone line of material with small anchors attached that naturally dissolve over time. When threaded under the surface of the skin and pulled up and outwards this creates a subtle lift. This is commonly known as the ‘fox eye’ lift.

PDO Monothreads are super-fine polymer dis-solvable threads. Using a cannula, they are placed just beneath the surface of your skin, activating the synthesis of new collagen and elastin fibres, resulting in tighter, firmer and thicker skin. They can be safely used on areas that are traditionally challenging to treat, such as the neck, jawline, marionette lines or upper lip lines.

Both are a biodegradable material that can be safely absorbed by the body over time, and have been safely used in cardiovascular and orthopaedic surgeries as well as for wound closure for over 30 years.

This is a whole new approach to the treatment of ageing. It creates a very natural result with minimal risks or downtime, and is perfect for those who don’t want dermal fillers or to go under the knife.

The results speak for themselves. Find out for yourself why PDO Mono threads have gained so much traction in as little as 2 years.

Frequently asked Q’s

  • How are PDO Threads different to Ultrasound Skin Tightening?

Ultrasound Skin Tightening, performed with Ultraformer and Ultherapy, provides a much deeper treatment. PDO Threads are placed at a more superficial layer of the skin while Ultrasound energy can penetrate to the deep dermal layer of your skin to provide collagen regeneration from the deepest layers.

These treatments can be used to complement each other as Ultrasound energy bypasses the superficial layer of skin where threads are placed to target the deeper dermal layer of your skin.

  • Does it hurt?

There can be discomfort, but the results far outweigh the initial pinch. You will have topical applied for 30 minutes prior to alleviate this for a comfortable experience.

Clients have noted they feel it far less then any filler procedures and excitably re-book and await their next appointment.

  • How are PDO Threads different to Dermal Fillers?

PDO Threads and Dermal Fillers treat different aspects of ageing.

Threads are dissolvable materials used to lift lax and sagging skin by creating better structure under the surface whilst increasing collagen production to give a tighter and lifted result.

Dermal Fillers are a soft, mouldable gel used to replace lost volume and reshape facial contours.

  • Are there side effects?

There is risk of infection with many treatments. Although the risk is low with a sterile treatment like threads the potential is still a chance and minimal scarring can result. Please ask more about this if you are concerned.
On darker skin types there is a small risk of hyper pigmentation around the insertion site due to our natural healing response, this will subside in 3-4 months but we can prep on a de-pigmentor to minimise this if it is a known risk for you.

  • Afterwards

Initial swelling can be expected for up to 48 hours. Bruising is also common and should be expected from day 2-8, this can be covered with makeup 24 hours post treatment once the entry points have healed. You may choose to take ibuprofen prior and the night following the treatment to alleviate discomfort. Sensitive skin types, fish oil or clients who heal slowly can have excessive bruising.

Although not common you may feel ‘lumps’ where the threads have been inserted. This is completely fine and will subside within a few weeks. If the area becomes red or irritated please call immediately.

  • How long do they last?

This question is better asked “How long until I will want more?

Reason being.. you will see some results 4-8 weeks post treatment with the best effects showing at 3 months. Results can last up to 9-12 months but you may add more threads or top up anywhere between 6-12 months.
