Tixel.

“Why should TIXEL be a staple part of my program?”

Picture this: one device that stimulates collagen and reduces fine lines, treats acne and other scar types, improves rosacea and pigmentation and minimises large pores across that stubborn T-zone.

Tixel is even used right over the delicate eyelid and undereye areas, smashing crepeyness and drooping. And over the lips to infuse plumping and super-hydrating serums.

Yes please?

It’s true. Tixel almost does it all. And when used in conjunction with other recommended treatments in your program, Tixel can deliver exponential results for skin health and appearance.

How Tixel Works.

TIXEL applies a high temperature plate to the skin via Thermo-Mechanical Ablation (TMA) technology. A 1cm square titanium plate containing 81 tiny pyramid shaped spikes is stamped briefly to the skin’s surface at a precisely controlled speed. The spikes deliver thermal energy at 400 degrees celsuis (stay with us here!) in high-speed millisecond pulses to target the contacted tissue but leaves the surrounding dermis untouched. This helps reduce healing times and complications in comparison to treating all the skin at once.

As the heat is transferred onto the treatment area, micro-channels are created on the surface of the skin that trigger the production of collagen and elastin.

Our recommended protocol for TIXEL is 3 treatments, 6 weeks apart with our recommended homecare for best results. During your initial consultation and treatment program we will discuss your main concerns to ensure TIXEL is the best approach for you and how to combine with other modalities for best reults.

What is the difference between TIXEL and other fractional devices?

Clinical studies have shown TIXEL has a similar effect on the skin as CO2 fractional lasers, but in a less aggressive way. Think of TIXEL as generally sitting between the results of non-ablative and ablative laser procedures. The settings on the TIXEL are adjustable in depth of penetration into the skin and the duration of the tip onto the skin. This allows us to tailor each treatment to the skin concern being treated, skin type of the patient and available downtime.

TIXEL is generally programmed as 3 treatments, 6 weeks apart with minimal downtime, unlike a more intense laser peel.

Is it safe?

TIXEL is not a laser, No light is emitted and the device has finely calibrated time and depth setting, allowing us to treat previously unreachable areas right across the eyelid and up to the lash line without causing injury to the eyes.

During operation, the tip is maintained at a temperature of 400°C and is self-sterilised, negating infection risk during the procedure.

There is no emitted radiation, fumes, smoke or bleeding in treatment. TIXEL is usually safe for breastfeeding mothers as no substances are introduced into the body. Goggles are not required as the system is eye-safe.

Any Questions?

  • Is There Downtime?

We ask all clients to be ready for red, hot skin for up to 6 hours post treatment, like a sunburn. Some Irritation and sensitivity will ease but can be expected for a few days. You’ll be back to normal in 7-10 days.

Eyes may be puffy from treating the eyelids, which usually subsides within 48-72 hours. Many clients experience no puffiness, and still enjoy great results.

The vast majority of clients do not need to make any adjustments to their usual routine from the day after treatment onwards

  • When Will I See Results?

Most people start to see results a few weeks after the first treatment, with lasting improvement in the skin quality, tightness and tone for 10-24 months. as new collagen formation generally takes 3-6 months. A program of 3 treatments, 6 weeks apart is recommended for most clients to ensure optimal results.

We generally advise a single treatment annually to maintain ongoing results.

  • How Do I Prepare?

At tw&SKIN preparation is vitali to achieve the best results and ensure clients’ highest satisfaction is met.

Being eligible for great results with TIXEL means you need to do your part at home..

Start daily application of high-quality vitamin A and B, and regular exfoliation 3-4 weeks prior to your initial treatment. This means fewer dead cells on the skin’s surface and a better treatment result from the get-go.

  • Does It Hurt?

Most clients find TIXEL treatment very tolerable. Local anaesthetic cream is applied on cleansed skin 30 minutes prior, and we work at your pace to make sure you’re comfortable.

  • Skincare After Treatment?

We highly recommend Synergie Skin’s SuperSerum - a hyaluronic acid and peptide based serum- to be applied post treatment for serious hydration and turnover support. Uberzincis a must to protect your freshly treated skin from UVA/UVB rays.

  • Tixel Eyelid Lift vs Blepharoplasty Surgery?

Surgical blepharoplasty is excellent for correcting moderate to severe loose eyelid skin and puffy eyelids. It is still the “gold standard” with results lasting more than a decade.

Tixel is an innovative new approach to tightening loose skin and is an impressive alternative to surgery, allowing a gentle correction of mild to moderate loose skin. Tixel is ideal for clients who want a gradual, natural improvement, those who want to improve the appearance of ageing eyes, and those who want to hold off surgery as long as possible.
